Factory Refurb K100D

There are still quite a few K100 users out there, so here's a heads up for those who love or have loved this great Pentax DSLR: Best Buy has a refurbished K100D on its website for $259. And it looks like its a Super - which means there shouldn't be any compatability issues with SDM lenses and other modern accessories. The K100D is one of the best of the 6 megapixel-era DSLRS.

The picture says Super, but the text doesn't seem to, so you'd want to check before ordering. I have a K100, but not a Super. It's a nice camera, but I'd be inclined to hold out for a Super for such a relatively high price.

Not only does it not say Super in the text, but in the description there is no mention of one of the distinguishing features from the regular K100D......the sensor cleaner.

It's a great camera. I wish I would have spent more time learning how to use it, like the time I've now spent with my K7. Looking back on the pics I took with it, the quality is amazing! Hope my son in law likes it ( what a great gift it was!)!!

I am very satisfied with my K100D Super and I am in no hurry to upgrade because this piece of equipment never fails to amaze me
in terms of low light capability and IQ.
This week I have been finally able to try the SDM/HSM feature/capability of the K100D Super and it really does work!
I usually only had the screw drive lenses and I never got to really try if my particular unit was working in the SDM/HSM area for 3 years!
Now I'm glad that it really works.. =)

I bought the same K100 refurb from Best Buy over a year ago. It was as-new in the box. I ended up returning it though after I tried a K-x. For a couple hundred more the K-x was just a better value. If you only have about $250 to spend I don't see how you can beat a K100d, but for the Best Buy price it should at least include a kit lens.

K100D for that coin is not bad IMO.
My cam was taken over by my daughter, she loves the output from the Sony sensor.
Now she wants a Pentax film body for her next B-day.

I actually got this camera from best buy, it is a K100D Super and I am very happy with it as it does work with all my old film lens. I do have three new lens coming on Monday, and BTW not all of us can afford the price jump (price drop?) of $740.00.

I just received this camera from Best Buy, the K100D Super. Came in box marked refurbised but has the software, cables, users manual, neck strap, and the camera is like new. Looking forward to using it. I have never used a dslr with manual functions before. Hope I don't have too much trouble. Any suggestions would be most welcome. I already had a SMC A 50mm 1.2 lens, DA 18-55 from the K-X I have as well as the DA 50-200 lens. Would like to use this camera for micro photography but need a good lens first.

this is the second refurbished k100d ive bought from best but. my last one was a standard k100d that met an unfortunate demise with a hard wood floor and then was finished of by a "pentax certified" repair shop that told me they couldn't fix it. but the good news was it had a marking on the senor that said 14mp that led me to think why my pics came out so clear. just thought id let you guys in on that tidbit of info. but its unverified weather or not pentax is dishing out 14mp processor for 259 but be prepared to pay an extra 18 bucks for tax regaurdless of where you are in the states

Okay, Wanda can you check some output to make sure there's not a 14mp K100D Super being sold for $259, because if there is, my wife is gonna kill me for buying it. (God I miss my K100D sometimes)

That is interesting... I've heard of a lot of refurbished equipment using parts from newer or different models when necessary. I wonder if it's a sensor that's been "tuned down" to the K100d's standard 6.1 megapixels, or does it really take 14mpx photos?
