Missed Pictures on K20

I have had my k20 for three years. I am not sure how many pictures I've taken, but being a semi-pro and avid photographer, I have taken many photos with this camera. Three weeks ago I did a wedding from which I was sure a few pictures were missing but each file number was in sequence with no missed numbers. Last Saturday I was photographing my granddaughter's graduation (fortunately as a grandfather, not pro) and I know for a fact four pictures that registered as being photographed were not on the sd card. As before there were no spaces in the file number sequence. They did show on the screen after each picture was taken. The missing photos were not in sequence such as all four in a row. What is happening?

I'd see if you can replicate the issue with a different SD card. If you can't, toss that card.
