Pentax Ad Fail!

Saw this in a parking lot in downtown Vancouver and thought it was pretty funny. No wonder so few people have a Pentax...their latest ad is from 2006! Looks like a K10D, but for some reason they've edited out the model number on the body. I think this is the ONLY Pentax ad I have ever seen in Vancouver.

The fail is because most members of the public won't know what this means.

I don't mind the ad personally - the message is ageless; SR is one of Pentax's selling points, and doesn't go out of fashion, even for the public.

they really don't do much of any kind of advertising, but they do get their moneys worth. the billboard reflected in the shot below has been there since the early 80's at a minimum

Money's worth for sure. They could have been using that ad from the K10 up to the K5.

I don't mind the ad. I don't think it's intended to appeal to the General Public but possibly more to Canon and Nikon owners. Agree they got their money's worth with regards to longevity.

there are dozens and dozens of billboards with Pentax ads all over Vancouver, of all sizes, shapes, and ages. Some big ones, some bus stop ads, some bus seat ones.

Cheers,

Vancouver is the exception i think, around Toronto they are next to non-existant. At least in the downtown core. the old billboard above is the only one i've seen in eons
I remember a bid campaign around the time of the DS and D that looked like the one posted by the OP

LOL, I really like that ad! Though I doubt they would need anything faster than 1/100 for that capture

Thanks for pointing that out! I'm glad I'm wrong about there being only one. Any K-x/K-r/K-5 ones? Could make for a fun afternoon trying to find Pentax ads around the city.

I haven't seen a Pentax ad in Florida in 30 years. Can we borrow yours?
