Nice story. The Panasonic cameras are really nice looking. I prefer a matte finish personally to a glossy one and the Panasonics fit that bill nicely.

Those Lumix G1 cameras have a nice shape. I like the design, the layout of the buttons from what I've seen. I still prefer my K-x but that's a nicely done camera.

I think black might also hide scratches & small dings better than a colored body. But that's just a theory.
No theory - if you drop your white camera and you will see.

That happens to me too. I get "Oh really Pentax still exists?" all the time.

It would still be nice to have other colour options though, how about a camera that can change it's colour based on temperature or where you're holding it.
i've thought about painting my camera in black thermochromic paint over a white base coat so that it would turn itself white and prevent overheating on hot sunny days.

good white paint reflects light and heat better than flat silver paint and without the unwanted reflections that you'd get with a shiny metallic coating.

But then you wouldn't be giving people a reason to go "Oooooh, SHINY!!!"

I love my white kx, and I can also attest to it being a great ice breaker / conversation piece! If I had the choice of olive I'd have gone for that as my style is usually a bit more subtle and it would match my domke bag, but man, the white kx is just awesome looking.

Not that many people know that Pentax makes great DSLRs. I am glad you were able to point a new Pentax user in the making.

LEDs can now be built into cloth. Very soon now, we shall see clothing that can display whatever the wearer wants. The same technology could be made for any surface, a spray-on display screen if you will. Before long, mood devices will sweep the planet, fed by whatever you want. Throbbing colors, dizzying flashing images, your home baby monitor, your dental xrays, whatever. That is my prediction.

I saw a thing somewhere on the internet about an OLED paint that in the not too distant future you'll be able to apply to your walls and change the color of your room, and display video on all of your walls at the flip of a switch. It's already been demonstrated to work well, it's just not economical to manufacture yet. Wild stuff...
