Originally posted by TaoMaas I don't see the point in the average user owning multiple DSLRs. In the film days, it was helpful to have several cameras so that you could have one loaded with slow film...one with fast film...one with B&W...etc... But these days, there's a lot less need for mulitple cameras.
I don't know about others but for a
prime shooter like myself, I like to travel with at least two bodies so I don't have to swap lenses. Hence, having at least two bodies is necessary. Also, since I shoot a lot with MF lenses, there is also two bodies dedicated to MF lenses, one for K mounts lenses and one for M42 lenses.
So right now my setup is as follows:
1) K100D: fully dedicated to MF lenses with M42 mounts
2) K10D: fully dedicated to MF lenses with K mounts
3) K200D: back up body for AF lenses
4) K20D: main body for AF lenses
5) Canon 30D: to try all other lenses that Pentax can't handle
In sum, I mainly buy my bodies used so the total paid for all 5 bodies was less than $1,200 which is less the price commanded for a K-5 new
