I bought my K200d may 30, 2008 and the k20d 4 months later, both new. I have less in them both plus the *istD which I bought used than the current price of the K-5. I am mainly a prime shooter also. The only AF zoom I have is the one mentioned above.

I kind of suspected that. We have a lot of prime shooters around as well as folks that have been around a while.
The *istD is one body that I really want to have because of the TTL support inside a semi-pro DSLR body. I also love the images produced by its sensor. I was watching eBay and here for an used one but gave up after 2 months and went with the K100D which is not bad at all. If opportunities arise I will get the *istD for sure.

As my tag shows: 3 currently. I have to wait till after 1st quarter 2012 to try and get a K5.

I do not use the K100D, slightly use the K200D and I really try to use the K20D before the battery goes flat.

I actually use my film SLR's more than the DSLR's. I just like to see the photos in hand so I can see how screwed up my perspective is........

Hmmm... As for DSLRs, I have three. *ist DS, K110D, and K-7.
I use multi-DSLR if I want to shoot all-primes and/or if I'm on an assignment or photographing an event or wedding. I don't want to keep on changing lenses if I have a priority to shoot especially weddings. With these three bodies and if I want all-primes, I snap on the A 28mm 2.8, M 50mm 1.4, and K 135 2.5... hehe... =)

I have just the one K7 - but when (and if) I get a K5 I'm very tempted to keep the K7 - so I will then have 2 DSLR bodies.

At the moment, I own 2 bodies:
1 K10D (but my plan is to sell it soon)
1 K5.

Just one dSLR, my one and only K20D, bless its bony butt.
I could summarize my other cameras, but that would be tedious.
My next serious cam is likely to be a Sony NEX, unless Pentax pre-empts.
So that K20D is likely to be my only dSLR for the foreseeable future. Ironic, hay?

Just one - DSLRs have never appealed to me. Just don't ask how many film SLRs I have!

At one time I had a K-x, K-7, and K10D. The K-x was my first DSLR and then I bought a K-7. Several months later I found a K10D being sold locally on Craiglist with the kit lens and a DA 18-250mm for $350! So I knew I had to jump on the deal. Anyhow, I turned around and sold the K10D for $375 here and kept the DA 18-250mm for myself Since then the K-x and K-7 have also been sold, but there is a K-r still in the family along with it's filthy step-brother the Nikon D7000

I put down 2 because technically I do still have my broken *ist, which at the moment is pretty much getting used as a paperweight, but I only have one working DSLR at the moment, my K-x. That being said I have several film SLR's as backup. My idea number is 2 I think. I do mean to get another DSLR body down the road. To do pro work I think you need more than one, ideally. I mean to have my K-x and maybe a K-5 or similar eventually if I can ever afford one. Having a backup camera is always a good thing, but who really needs more than two? My one teacher probably has half a dozen at any given time, but then he's been in the business of photography for more than 3/4 of his life, and he actually uses them all in his work. The way he shoots most days he needs a few bodies and a couple of assistants to carry them, but most photographers that would be overkill...

I had the K-5, K-7 and K-x at the same time for a few months while I was deciding which two I should keep. Eventually the K-7 was sold and I was back down to two.

1 K-x DSLR

2 MESuper's (currently mounted to M40mm-2.8 & M50mm-1.7 respectively)
1 MG (mounted to Vivitar 19mm 3.8)
1 MX (mounted to Vivitar 70-210mm 4.5-5.6)

My favourite of the SLR's is the black ME with the 40mm... 3 rolls of XP2 in the city and some cash for developing and a sandwich makes a good day out...

I like having 2 bodies of the same model for the sake of interchangeability (and because I get confused by different control schemes.) I had 2 K20Ds and then bought 2 K-5s so I had 4 briefly*. I've sold one of the K20s so now I'm down to 3: I haven't decided to sell the other one though.

*in practice I actually had three most of that time because one or another was at CRIS.

The winning count of 3 may not be surprising since the poll is worded as 'highest count at any given time'.
I voted 3 because for a short while I did own 3 at once, a k-10 k-7 and k-x.
I ultimately decided to keep the k-x and sold the other two to buy a k-5.
For me two bodies is the right number.

I had 4 for a short while: K10D, K-7, K-5, K-5.
Got rid of the K10D soon after, and now shoot with both K-5s, with the K-7 as backup just in case; e.g. if one K-5 is out of action, then I can use a K-5 + K-7 for the next job.

3 x DSLR

I started off with an istD, got a K10D quickly followed by a K20D, in Dec 2008, and then had the ist converted to IR.

And this is where I am staying untill Pentax / Ricoh release the Full Frame in K10 / 20 body that uses the same grip and batteries that will be anounced on October 1st when the sale becomes final.

Well, I can dream!!

Bill
