Good.. glad it's just not me... Don't think it's malicious either, just deeply psychological. Wonder what Pentax did to him.

Hi Jeff,

Phil Askey has admitted why he has a different tone towards Pentax. Sorry, I don't have the link where he said it, but it boils down to him "wanting Pentax to succeed" and "holding them to a better standard" in order to promote competition.

I might agree with his motives, but certainly not his implimentation.

Here is what I think

jpgs are meant to be for less then 8x10's and if someone wants to seriously blow up a picture, they would be using raw.
under 8x10 the slight softness would not matter, and above it you would not only see any softness, but if anyone has ever done a compositon, montage, etc. in sizes like 16x20 knows that EVERY imprefection shows, so raw is the only way to go.
