K10D ISO Shortcut in "M" mode

I was just shooting a few things with my K10D in Manual mode and playing around with the buttons when I decided to see what pressing the OK button and moving the front e-dial does: it changes the ISO value!

So no more pressing OK, then the right button and then having to select the ISO value.
And all three essential controls are right at the fingertips!

Shutter Speed: front e-dial
Aperture: back e-dial
ISO: OK + front e-dial

Did I just stumble upon a great shortcut? Or does everybody else know about this?

You stumbled upon the feature given to us in firmware upgrade 1.10 I believe. Pentax should be more vocal with the changes they make, but thats another story.

pop4, yep. I just learned about this about 2 weeks ago from another thread on this board where it was mentioned only in passing. It is -fantastic-! I'll re-iterate, that I don't plan on every buying another D-SLR w/o dual dials front and rear.

It works in P mode, too.

*goes to the Pentax firmware site and reads*

You're right! I probably should've read the site more thoroughly before.

# In any exposure mode except Sv and TAv, you can change your ISO setting with the front e-dial while pressing the OK button. The camera will display your ISO in the viewfinder and on the top LCD panel as you adjust your setting.

I guess the K10D is just full of wonderful surprises.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was mentioned in the Magic Lantern Guide.

Also, at least in Av mode, if ISO is set to a fixed value, holding down "OK" and then hitting the green button will bounce you into auto ISO mode. Tell me if THAT's not cool!

Works in P mode as well.
Its time Pentax produces a new K10D manual to be downloaded.

I've been using this for awhile and it's an excellent upgrade. The other thing I love about this camera's adjustablity is that in "custom setting" you can change what each E dial does with shutter, aperture and ISO settings to suit how you want the camera to work.

IMPORTANT: In Av and Tv you don't even need to press the OK button. If you choose the right options in the custom menu, you could use the extra dial in Av and Tv to change ISO without the need to press OK.
