Best ISO for K7

Just wondering for Dynamic range, is ISO 200 or 100 best on the K7. I was under the impression that ISO 200 was native, but not 100% sure.

I shoot with ISO 100 all the time in manual. 200 if overcast or sun down. 400-800 in low light. how will that affect dynamic range? Is that not something to do with the sensor?

I shot at 100 with the K7 simply because it was the least noisy speed. I'm pretty sure 100 has greater DR as well.

Dynamic range becomes more limited the farther away from the sensor's native ISO you go.

I used the dynamic range expansion very often and with that iso200 is base-iso. You have more room preventing highlight burnout. Problem is getting more colournoise, so using hi iso settings will get a little dangerous.

Native iso for the K7 is 100. For the kx/kr it is 200. Dynamic range is greater at 100 than 200.l

Thanks for all the replies. I usually shoot at 100 when I can, but started wondering if I would be better at 200, as I thought it was the native ISO.

Still have my K7 and I very often shoot at up to ISO 500-800, in RAW, while trying to not undexpose.
That way, if any unwanted noise shows, I can always deal with it in PP.
In a nutshell, the K7 is quite capable beyond ISO 100-200 at least to ISO 640-800.

My ten-cents.

Forget native ISO, that old myth is perpetuated both those who don't know how to read DXO graphs and love "just so" stories.

Shoot at the lowest ISO for the least noise and the greatest DR; ISO 80 is better than ISO100 is better than ISO200 on any given Pentax body regardless of what the native ISO is.

With the K-7 and shooting RAW I find that without using the 'highlight correction' the camera tends to ever-so-slightly clip the blacks, highlights aren't usually a problem. Turning on the 'highlight correction' seems to give a couple of bits of headroom both in the shadows and in the highlights. It does limit you to ISO200 and above with a very slight noise increase over fixed ISO100. Usually I leave the 'highlight correction' on and limit the ISO to 200-800 with 'Auto ISO' on 'slow'.
