When is K-3 hitting the stores?

I saw a K3 in a local camera shop today. Pretty nice. Took a few shots with it. They said they wil be available for purchase Oct 1, I think I'll pick one up.

Wait... No, that's right, none if that really happened.. :P

Ricoh gets 6 months grace period - Oct thru Mar. After that it NEEDS to have K-next on the shelves.

You do realize, I hope, that a 6-month delay in new goodies will result in mass hysteria and psychosis around here. Some of the NEWS+RUMOURS people will be frothing and gibbering and chewing their toes off before Xmas. Substance abuse and defections to Canikony will increase. Excess pizzas will be consumed. Social order will break down. Your mere suggestion of such a delay could trigger some of the unstable to slide over-the-edge. Oh, the humanity...

Oh no, only six months to get a new camera out! It can't be properly design tested, production tested, quality tested, field tested... a 'new' EDSEL to come?

BTW, who really needs a new K-'whatever' whit in a year, isn't the K5 good enough?

If this goes on like that, we will never have the time to fully exploit the current (state of the art) model!

The K-5 is fine. So are the latest laptops, smartphones and PP software packages. But let's face it, we're all prone to excitement over a new technological development. Even with an instant focusing, 600Mpix FF camera with unlimited noiseless ISO performance and no QC issues, all in the size and weight of a K-x, but still weather sealed and steel-chassis built, there will still be expectation for the next better model in 12-18 months...

My theory is with Pentax changing hands, any chance of there being a new flagship model introduced any time soon will be delayed about 6 months. My guess is September 2012.

@GlennG... As a name I actually prefer 'K-next' to 'K-3' ... However Pentax/Ricoh's brand spanking new FF-DSLR (to be released in Feb 2012) will in fact be named "K-Blam.01!"
