I can see the benefits but I would still prefer an optical viewfinder.

Ah, but with the patented Pentax approach you can get both and switch between them at will.

Canon and Nikon thought so, too. Check out the 1D Mk III and the D3. Of course, they do cost a teeny weeny bit more than the Pentax 20d predicted price point ....

I would love a live view. How many times would you like to raise your camera above a crowd, and still see what you are pointed at? I would not want to give up my optical viewfinder, and probably would use it almost exclusively. Almost. But I am sure that the few times I did use it, I would need it.

Live view is a fine feature for those who need it and would use it. I wouldn't. It's just a preference. It makes photography harder for me. I don't know why. I just don't feel comfortable.
