K20D Review (New)

Yep a new review.

Since I had so many notes on the K20D from before, this one came out pretty quickly. Hopefully it's a worthwhile effort to Pentax users.

Good Stuff, C!
I've regretted several photo transactions in my time, and that includes letting go of WR gear. As a resident of western Oregon, how could I make such dumb moves?

Good review - with real life opinions!

Re handling, get a grip, literally, although it'll have to be a Pentax made one to retain the weather sealing, they aren't expensive these days.

Put the battery in the grip instead of the camera body and I think you'll be amazed at the handling benefits.

Thanks Jim, not a dumb move, gotta do what you gotta do- that's my opinion.

Layingback- Not a fan of vertical grips personally, although I completely see their value for those who don't mind the bulk.

Spyunknow- me like too!

Possibly among the most detailed and accurate of K20D reviews.

The K20D and GX20 can use most Pentax legacy lenses but they do not meter very well with them. This shortcoming is generally ascribed to the LL80 screen and better results with non-electronic lenses are obtained by fitting the older LL60 screen. There is plenty of discussion - though rather fragmented by the discussants addressing their preferred lens type only - in Pentaxforums on this problem but there is no systematic evaluation of how the LL60 does with both electronic and non-electronic lenses. My own impression is that the LL60 improves metering with non-electronic lenses but significantly underexposes with electronic lenses, albeit in a predictable manner, correctable through exposure compensation.

I've noticed the unreliable metering slanted to the underexposure side for sure. Gives them personality, is one way of looking at it.

Prefer reliable metering over personality, given the choice.
