updating firmware

Hi all,
Although a Pentax user for years have now got my first DSLR, a K10D.
I am looking to upgrade firmware to v.1.3 but unclear about where to copy the software.
Am using SDHC cards which have an empty folder DCIM on the card. Does the software go into that or just onto the card please.
Also, and this may sound dumb, compact digital screens can be used to compose a picture, but the K10D remains blank until viewing. Is it standard that DSLRs do not have this facility - yet.

just put the new firmware file on the card, not in any folder w/ in the card....(so lets say your card was r:\ as shown in windows, you would just copy it in r:\ not r:\dcim)

and no, there is no live view on the lcd screens..currently only olympus evolt, panasonic something, and canon 1ds Mark III are the only dslr's that have this feature. you will still need to look through the view finder

The new Canon 40D has a live viewfinder. I would seldom use it for regular daytime photos, but I wish my K110D had it when focusing a telescope on a star.

Be careful to follow instructions to the letter when updating firmware.
