K-X ISO 100 or 200

Background: I shoot raw and process with Pentax DCU. I use highlight correction and shadow correction as needed in post processing.

There seems to be a discrepency in information provided by DXOMark sensor testing DxOMark - Pentax K-x

The above data indicates higher dynamic range for 100 vs 200. Stepping through the various test results seem to indicate 100 is better than 200 in a lot of ways.

and Digital Photo Review K-X testing
Pentax K-x Review: 17. Photographic tests (DR): Digital Photography Review

The above data shows a slight lower "usable" dynamic range for 100 vs 200. It shows a little less highlight range for 100. The shadow range is the same.

What gives?

On p 91 of the manual they state "When the sensitivity is set to ISO 100, bright areas are more likely to occur". The Digital Photo Review data would support this.

I recently shot bright colored folliage in the sun and shoot at ISO 100 thinking it would be better based on DXOMark. I was pleased with the results. I was careful not to blow out a single color channel.

Bottom line when shooting RAW and using DCU which is bettter 100 or 200

Thanks,

Mike
