Hello,
I own an istDS. What capacitiy SDHC cards can be used. I currently use 4GB cards, but would like to purchase a 16GB card.

If any SDHC card works in your camera, they all will. SD cards are maxed out at 2 Gb, so you re good to go, seeing that you are already using 4 Gb cards. Just don't buy an (expensive) SDXC card and you are ok.

If you are currently using a 4GB card, then your camera is capable of using SDHC cards. It should accept any card up to 32GB, the maximum for the SDHC standard.

There are three SD variations: the original SD card, which has a capacity of 2GB or less; SDHC (Secure Data High Capacity), which has a capacity between 4GB and 32GB; and SDXC (eXtreme Capacity), which has capacities above 32GB.

I am almost certain that the *istDS is NOT capable of using SDXC cards. Since it doesn't do video, there is very little reason for a card that big, anyway.
