Shutter release cable question

I see numerous shutter release cables over the internet, 3rd party. I am especially interested in timed exposure, time delay, etc. Are they safe. I really am concerned I could fry the electronics inside my K10D using inferior devices. Anyone, (I'm sure their are many) that has experience with them, and recommend a quality device.

Don't be too concerned - as long as the devices aren't powered, there's no risk of frying your camera.

The shutter release port has three contacts - one is ground, one is shutter, and one is focus. Unless you're supplying voltage to these, you can't hurt the camera.

I have a cheap China cable and it works fine.

I have two shutter release cables, one is made for FS, PZ, and MZ series cameras (except MZ-6) and another for MZ-6 and K-7. These are un-powered cables and work just as shutter button.

I would just use the Remote Control F.
