K10D battery question

When I bought a second battery for my vertical grip I purchased a Pentax brand. I see a lot of sellers on Ebay selling batteries for very low prices. Are these batteries safe to use; do they give out the proper voltage ( I worry that improper voltage could harm the camera)? Do they hold their charge for a reasonable amount of time? Pentax batteries are pretty pricey.

Thanks,
John

Don't know about the Ebay ones, but I picked up one of the Impact brand from B&H and have been using it with no problems for the last 6 months.

Same here. Not sure about Ebay batteries, supposed to be some bad ones there. But Impacts from B&H working very well for about a year now.

I run three batteries. One of them is the Pentax brand and the other two are Tokina. Got all three of them from Abe's of maine when I bought my K10D. So far they all work great. Recharge good and last a long time. It says on my Tokina's that they are for a Minolta. I am certain more than Pentax take that same battery. The Tokina's were a hell of a lot cheaper than the Pentax. I noted that the Pentax battery was made in Japan. Don't know at this stage of the game if that is worth paying a premium for. Good Luck in your search.

The Konica Minolta NP-400 batteries are only $9.95 at B&H. (They were originally $49.95) They work great, and I can't tell any difference compared to the Pentax batteries.

NP-400 at B&H
