i would wait, but depends on how many photos you are shooting.
the kx is good for at least 100.000 clicks or maybe 150.000 as specs.
A such count will take 6-10 years on average.

K20d, K7, K5 are all better and allow more control, and with 2 dialing wheels that can be addicted when get used to it.

i say just wait and save up for a k-5, its just so much of a massive leap in performance that you'll really feel that it is a definite upgrade, rather than a compromised or partial upgrade.

+1 on the K-5. I would say give the K-r and K-7 a miss since the K-5 will be a much more significant upgrade. I am looking to upgrade too but I am out of $$$ now....

It depends what your needs are. Bodies only depreciate. If you're not missing shots because you have a K-x, get a new lens instead.

One day the K5 will be $150.

If you do want to upgrade, I'd get a k-7, but then I value weather sealing and two control dials, so I'd be frustrated with a Kx or Kr. Not that the resulting pictures would look much different.

He might be dead by then. The *istDL's go for more than that now and they weren't even half the price of the K-5.

They would at high ISO. Much different.

Grab a K-5. If you aren't upgrading to the gear you want because you can't afford it, then you're wasting money if you go for something cheaper. Wait until you have the money to get exactly what it is you want and get it. Nothing worse than a lingering feeling of something better being out there that you could have bought if you waited.

The DA* 300/4 has my name written all over it somewhere in the future...

The *istD is $180 at KEH in EX+. The *istDS & DL are $200. You can now get a used K20 for less than a used K-x.

I could only suggest to wait and save up for a K-5. The K-r isn't that much of an advantage over the K-x in terms of IQ; unless the LCD's low resolution freaks you out most of the time, or want AF points in the viewfinder/AF assist lamp that badly, then get a K-r

Can't say much for the K-7 since even if it's weather-sealed, the K-x still outperforms it in low light... so might as well just save up for the latest, best model.

I have a K-x and a K-7. I'm selling my K-x and keeping the K-7. I refuse to buy the K-5 because of its horrific track record.

I for one, will wait for the next model that will replace the K5. Saving up really slowly for it. At the moment, the K5 Black is SGD$1500 (USD$1167.21) and the K5 Silver is SGD $1780 (USD$1385.12).

Maybe, but does that really matter when both cameras stop producing high IQ before reaching ISO 1600 (same for K-5, btw)? Check their scores on dxomark - neither maintains the dxomark IQ bar beyond ISO 1600:

K-7: up to ISO 536, K-x: up to ISO 811, K-5: up to ISO 1162.

There's not even a stop difference here.
