Trying to set Shutter Speed

I love my K7 except for one thing. My SS! It is being really weird. And this has only been recently. I got the K7 a year ago and never seemed to have problems before so I'm thinking the SS is being weird because of something I may have changed and don't remember. I shoot in manual mode only and normally set my ISO, then my aperature and last my shutter speed. When I do this I can make my SS as high or as low as I want it. Well the past week or so it won't let me change it and seems to bounce all over the place when I do try to change it (if that even makes sense). I've gone through the manual to try to solve this on my own and I'm having no luck. If I can't figure it out I guess I'll have to shoot in auto mode That just kills me because I've been shooting in manual for quite some time now. If anyone wouldn't mind helping me out it would be greatly appreciated

I have a K-7 and I work in hypermode P. The Hypermode P is almost like Auto. You can press the green button to go to full Auto, and you can use the front dial for SS and rear dial for aperture. I love this P mode.

In most applications, I use only the front dial, to set the shutter speed. I am used to control the shutter speed and I known often in advance the best SS. On the other hand, once I select the SS, I let the camera set the aperture, ISO and exposure.

It works for me as long as i have the right lens. For example, in low light, I must use a fast prime.

Hope that the comment may help.

Does the K-7 let you reverse which dial does what? It sounds like one of the dials may be having trouble, which is pretty common with Pentax cameras (and mercifully, easy to fix most of the time). If you can reverse their function, and suddenly have trouble setting/changing your aperture, you know it's the dial.
