Never says recalculating, but she says something like "You have missed a turn, make a legal u-turn!" The tone of voice is just plain insulting, sort of like what mom sounded like after you screwed up for about the tenth time. You can just hear the exasperated sigh.....

we always imagine our GPS to be saying through gritted teeth "recalculating" every time we ignore her "suggestions"

one of these days she's going to explode after we refuse to listen to her directions.

My GPS lets out a disappointing sigh.

No name for the camera though.

Don't you think it's a bit stupid to give it a name? I'm just calling it "darling", that's all. Lol! XD

So funny:

"Are you kidding me? This is not the way to photograph those lovely bikinigirls!"

I can see it now.

Choose settings the camera disagrees with and it says "I'm sorry, Dave. I can't let you do that."

My K20D already does that with semaphores. A voice in my head provides the words (usually profane) of the message. Then another voice tells me to change something. And another voice comments critically on my approach. I always listen to my voices.

If my camera (and lenses and flashes and 'pods and other gear) talked to me too, I might become confused. Talking GPS? It's bad enough when my car beeps at me. I always curse back. Being outsmarted, outguessed by miserable stinking [expletives deleted] little machines, aargh.

But why do I complain? I started writing computer programs before 1980, on both huge mainframes [TSO MADE LINDA LOVELACE GAG] and tiny primitive micros [640K IS ENOUGH FOR ANYONE]. I have been humiliated by machines with less intelligence than a mouse turd. Being outsmarted by a camera isn't so bad. Is it?

How to outsmart a camera: Use M mode, a hand meter, manual focus, and a tape measure.

The K-10 is 'the 10' and the K-20 is 'the 20'. That's about as exciting as it get...:-)

Fleming. Some shots make me cough.
Would that be Bob Fleming (ARSE)!!

Only those in the know will get this one...

I've gone to the dark side (Nikon) but still hang around here a lot because of the great people.

After moving from a little K-x to the D300, I call it "The Beast"..

Everything in my house...

Everything in my house is named "Money Pit" including the wife and kids. The house itself is named "Mother of all Money Pits." The wife and kids formed a super committee and call me "Papa Money." I am feeling the wrath of diminishing returns.
