Yes. I believe a couple of Pentaxians supplied the needed "decryption" of K10D fields for both Photo ME and Exiftool.

When did 2.2 come out? According to Exiftool, my K10D's revision is 2.1, with a manufacture date of 2007:08:01. If all the date fields have the same format, that's August 1st.
Mine's 20070517, already rev. 2.1.

PhotoME is indeed an interesting program... Though i have GX-10, not K10D. But it still identifies correctlym seems like i have 1.6 version, manufactured on 19 of March 2007. Well, I guess I dont have the "advanced" one, but I am still happy with it lol.

Probably that means you're looking at the firmware version, not the model revision.

Mine is:

Manufacture Date : 2007:07:24
Model Revision : 2.1
Internal Serial Number : 4376974

Pre Historic K10D

Hi folks. It took a while but now I can figure it out. After installing PhotoMe I can confirm that my K10D is pre production sample. As per Exif data:
"
Pentax Model: K10D
Manufacture Date: 20051206
Model Revision: 1.5
Internal Serial Number: 5069598
Battery Kind: 2
Battery States: Body Battery: Full; Grip Battery: Missing "

I don't mind as long as the Warranty is valid.

How lucky I am!!!

Season's greetings
Rui

Is PhotoME Manuf Date mis-interpreted?

I asked about the Manuf. Data out of PhotoME earlier here, and a few responders suggested that the EXIF data was being incorrectly presented as a manufacturing date, etc. Can anyone confirm or refute the correctness of the PhotoME interpretation? Based on the data presented just in this thread, things do look a little suspect:

Manuf Date Rev Internal SN
20051201 1.5 5097223
20051206 1.5 5069598
20061028 1.1
20061208 1.2
20070317 2.1
20070517 2.1
20070701 2.21
20070724 2.1 4376974
20070801 2.1
20070803 2.1
20071024 2.1 4576153
20071101 2.1

Manufacture date 2006/12/10
Model Revision 1.2
Internal Serial Number 5129155

Still not sure what that would mean...does anyone see a difference compared to the newer Revision ones?

My mistake - 2.2 and higher. For K10D GP revision 2.1 and higher.
If those are right out of the camera, it looks like they improved what I've been annoying the fanboys about with my posts - CHROMA NOISE.

Good going Pentax. Hopefully, by some doubtful miracle, the substance of the camera revision is accomplishable by firmware update for cameras earlier than 2.2. Mine is 1.2.

The Nucore ADC front ends, and Fujitsu backend are supposed to have abilities to be tweaked. Maybe they made an official decision to do this, and improved the algorithm making a new revision number, as these improvements have come out after the last firmware update.

Supposedly they are working on a firmware update to be finished after the K14D firmware is finalized.

Hopefully it will address a number of issues.

I wonder if the 2.2 camera revision also improves VPN?
