You should try this:
Stolen Camera Finder - find your photos, find your camera

In another forum somebody told the story how they tracked their stolen camera and got it back after 2.5 years, shortly after using this link.
It depends on that shots have been taken with you camera by the new owner and published on facebook or whatever.

you know that might also be a good way to track theft of your photos given how it seems to work

Just saw this on eBay - same camera bag as you describe. The seller has a lot of other second hand gear for sale so you might want to search through his/her items...

The 50-200 they have for sale is NOT this one as the Serial #'s do not match. Theirs is 6539715.
