PK_Tether 0.6.0 (all new version)

I know PK_Tether has been writter about elsewhere, but there is a new version.

This is the correct link to the software from the developers site (Tomasz Koz) PK_Tether | Tethering and remote control software for Pentax DSLR cameras
Download directly from his Download Page

This is what Tomasz wrote on his blog

- reworked User Interface – panels can be switch on/off
- reworked communication with camera
- added and fixed some functiona lities
- added function for activating/deactivating debug mode in camera
It was tested by few people with different equipment and I received very good opinions, especially about stability. Some long term test was done on K20, K5 and K7 with more than 1000 photos in series for each – purpose was checking battery power consumption during tethering.

The layout is different, settings are now on the right along with the addition of periodic shooting and bulb mode (when the camera is in bulb mode)

the first thing I tried was to do a bulb shoot beyond 30sec default. I secessful did a 1min shoot, but it doesn't get around the double time in camera processing. So a 1min shoot takes 2mins to show up.

The only problem I have found so far (I have commented on Tomasz's blog)
Is with high speed shooting, it locks up my camera and causes errors with the USB drivers.

Other than that I am most happy with this new version.

My ears must have been burning. Just woke up and thought I'd see if Tomasz made a new tether version. So I looked at his web site and there it was released on Dec.28. I also saw bdparker's note there that comments would be posted here too. Now for some testing and fun. This bodes well for the future.

He has said in the past that he intends to port it to QT, but that he didn't have the time to do so. That was around February which was the last time a .Net version was released. Looks like he found time to update the .Net version, we'll see if he ever ports it to QT. He says that the Mac driver still isn't working and that it is difficult for him to develop because he doesn't have any Mac hardware, he has to count on help from a colleague.

Thanks for the find. Perhaps it will help me improve my moon shots.

Hopefully he'll make some progress on the Mac version. Let's crowd source it and get this guy some money. I need the Mac version like 3 weeks ago...

Test Mode
- Capture/system test
- AF test
- Strings Disp Test

I'm not game enough to fiddle while my camera is still under warrenty.

Tried it last night on my Win7 64 bit and it worked like a charm. Re-connected the cam a bunch of times (because I needed to change the ISO from the camera) and never experienced any problems - except for the ISO thing, which supposedly is a firmware bug.
