Are the Online Shutter Counters accurate?

I'm asking because fir shits and giggles I checked my Kx and Kr, heres why I am confused. Kr shows 18k, but the next file number is 9560, it rolls over every 10k right? If thats the case it has shorted it by at least 1k. I am pretty sure I have nearly 80k on my kx it shows up as 42k.

Anyone else ever question the numbers they see?

Both cameras have been to Pentax for service before, I'm wondering when they intstalled the new firmware and stuff if that wiped the counts?

The file number should have nothing to do with the shutter count unless you're under 10k and started with a clean card.

Have you tested your pics here?

The values should be accurate unless they replaced your camera's circuitry while servicing it. A firmware update won't wipe the counter.

My K20d 16,740
The *ist DL 16,037
The K20D is the newest I bought it in Dec 2008. The *ist DL was bought in Feb,2006. Since getting the K20D the *ist DL is not used as much as it once was.
