I would suggest getting just the K-x with the kit lens and then saving the rest ($600+) until you have shot with that setup and found out what you're missing that you want/need.

If you decide you need a tele zoom right away, buy a used 70-200ish manual focus zoom ( I picked one up for $20 early on ) and then go from there. I'll bet someone who has never manually focused before wouldn't have too much trouble if they realized the camera can be made to beep at them when they are reasonably in (center) focus.
