I have a istD and still want a K10. I like to use a polarizer with my long lens and need those extra stops.

I think another thing to consider for beginners (like me) about the K100D vs. the K10D, is the K100 has the automatic modes (landscape, action, portrait, macro, etc), where as the K10 has the manual type modes (M, AV, TV). For the beginners you can use the automatic modes right away and get some good pictures and get used to the camera, then start using the program/manual modes to learn about aperture, DOF, shutter speed, etc. With the K10, you'll need to learn all that right off the bat and it may be a little frustrating when you miss that really cute shot because you didn't have the ISO or f-stop set correctly.
I Do not believe that Is Correct. I am sure i read that the Green Mode Is fully auto. Also available Is program Mode. This is full auto with the ability to adjust some items that are not adjustable in the Auto mode.
What You lose is the scene modes.

Someone please correct me if i am wrong

I think you are correct. It looks like there is one auto mode, but not the scenes.

I would put the $300 towards lenses for the K100D. If this is your first DSLR you won;t be disappointed with the K100D.

Well, it turned out not to matter - I had decided to go for a K100, and when I went in, it turned put I couldn't exchange it for a preorder on the K10.

I realized that in my first 60 pictures, most have been on aperture priority and I've taken only one on auto and none with the scene modes. Maybe I'll give them a chance.

You did well

Jobs, you did fine getting the K100D. It is a very nice camera. It is not just an entry level camera. I have the DS. It is my second most favorite camera of all time (this is of the 30+ I have owned). I have a K10D ordered but I wonder if I will like it any better if as well. It has positives but also negatives for me. Not sure I will like the much larger size (ordered the grip) and the fact that best quality is at ISO 100 (used to 200 with DS). It is also much heavier. For lowlight shooting it will probably loose out to the K100D because of noise. It will be interesting to compare. I will luckily keep both. Enjoy the new camera.
thanks
