The kit lens feels like a toy...

The Canon 18-55 non-IS is a dog optically at any aperture wider than f8. The Nikon's much better (Sharp, decent colour) but isn't nearly as flare resistant. Neither has a focus ring worth noting, both are greatly inferior to the DA in handling & build.

I am so excited.

Probably why kit lenses sell for about $100 and come with the camera.

Don't worry about some of the replies ... go out and have fun with the camera.
When I first got mine I thought the lens felt like a toy ... but I was impressed with the images it took for such a cheap lens.

Even though I have a nice 50mm and 90mm ... along with 75-300 ... i keep going back to the kit lens for quite a few shots still.
