Auto-focus problem with beloved k-10

Has anyone else had problems with a K10 just not focussing all of a sudden?

I have loved this camera since I opened the box - it's been through every foul weather assignment I could muster and it performed like a champ. I like the image output better than my K20! I have kept up on regular updates, cleanings .... the works! And after ~300,000 shutter actuations, I fear it's reaching it's end.

Do I send it off for what I'm sure is going to be a costly repair or is it finally time to retire her?

The short story is I put on a lens, power up, depress the shutter half way - nothing! Nada - as if the camera is in Manual focus mode. But it's not. Double, triple checked everything.

Has anybody seen this before?

I just hope mine lasts for 300,000.
I do hope this is a palm-to-the-face fix and all is well soon.
Good luck.

Mine gave trouble at about 60,000. Already had the K20, so i solved the problem by getting the K7. Suggest you can solve your problem with a K5.

If you've taken 300k shots you've definitely gotten your money's worth- at that point I would either get a new K10 or upgrade to the K-5. Seeing that the K-5's got a load of improved features over the K10, I'd go for that if you can afford it.

Does the built in flash still work? When my flash stopped working, it wouldn't focus or take a photo unless the flash was pushed down.

Maybe check/reset the settings? You might have disabled the autofocus-on-half-shutter-press perhaps.
