k-x dead... any help?

Hey everyone, here's the tale of woe: I noticed today the green button on my k-x had fallen out. Ok, no problems, I figured I'd get a new one from pentax this week.

Then, ill-advisedly, I tried to take a photo that required the green button. I used a bent paper clip to ever so gently push down the green button function. Now the camera won't turn on. A paperweight. I'm assuming I shorted something with metal-on-metal contact, but any idea whether this is a major issue or something that can be easily (and cheaply) fixed? I'll be sending it to pentax on monday, I'm just curious what I've got on my hands.

Before sending it out for repair, try removing the batteries overnight. Put them back in the next day and see if the camera starts. Some electronics have self-resetting circuit breakers; I don't know if the K-x does but it's easy to try.
