Most lenses have a coating that makes them easier to clean, so i ain't that worried.

Polarizer

The only filter I use is a polarizer - when I need to cut through glare. I quit using skylight filters after I realized how good protective coatings are on modern lenses. All but a high quality "protective" filter will degrade the final image.
