Studio Flash Sync Speed for K10D

Recently, I noticed that my K10D was casting a shadow on the bottom of the image when using the X (1/180th of a second) setting with Studio Flashes and Pocket Wizards to trigger them. If I switch the camera to the manual mode and reduce the speed to 1/160th of a second the shadow begins to lesson. The shadow is completely gone at 1/125 of a second.

I went back through my file and the problem began to appear about three months ago. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Someone said that the RF triggers will do that as their batteries get low. HTH.

To insure the camera syncs properly with these overall slower flash units, the recommended sync speed with studio flash units is 1/100 - 1/125s. This is vaguely mentioned in the owners manual, but certainly not clearly. I guess they assume studio photographers will know this on their own - or discover it as you have.

I've never been able to sync higher than 1/125 with PWs and Impact Monoblocks (B&H private label, I believe built by Bowens) or my Sigma 500 DG Super and Vivitar 285hv combo. In my studio, I have not run into a problem, in the field it could effect shots where I want to control the BG with the shutter speed.

I don't know if the problem is the camera, or the PWs, but it is a bit aggravating.
