K200d for £50

Just scored aK200d for £50 (as the title says) Sold as faulty. Seller said he had a battery problem. Thanks to this forum tried Eneloops and all is good, 300 shots on one set of batteries so far with no problems. Firmware was 1.0 (updated obv) Cant wait to try this at iso 100. Just thought Id gloat sorry The real thing is that Pentax is THE system to use for quality vs cost end of story. Great lenses and great bodies too. All is good

Nice find!!! Eneloops are your friend with the K200D. I can shoot all day at the boat races with my BG-3 battery grip without changing batteries. I usually shoot between 1000 to 1500 shots a day. Make sure you at least use an Eneloop branded charger or a Maha or LaCrosse. Regular NiCad chargers will not properly charge Eneloops. I tried early on with my Eneloops. They would only last a 100 or so shots if that when fresh out of the NiCad charger. No problems with the Eneloop charger though. Enjoy your find.

What Duracell charger do you have. I found that the Sanyo charger that comes with a set of Eneloops charges cells in pairs. That means that the cells will only charge up to the level of the pair. As an experiment, I charged a set of Eneloops with the Sanyo charger and then let them cool, and then put them into a Duracell CEF 23 charger. This particular Duracell charger charges each cell individually. As expected, two of the cells showed full charge almost immediately, the third cell showed full charge in about 5 min. The last cell charged for almost 1/2 hour! Because the Pentax cameras that take AA batteries use them in series, one low cell will shorten the run time for all. This why people recommend the Maha, etc.

The charger is a CEF-22.Seems to charge the Eneloops very nicely but, I do not mix my sets (have the sets in the same container) Im not up to 500 shots on one set of Sanyos. If I can find a Sanyo charger cheap I may invest in one
