hi, I'm a dslr noob and I recenly bought a k10d. I already had the hang of using my kit lens (smc 18-55mm) and thinking of buying a used lens for economic reasons, I heard older lens types may work with the k10d. now, I'm looking at a SMC Pentax-A 1:2 50mm lens that comes with the K1000 on ebay. would this lens work with my cam? would there be any issues? is that considered a prime lens? thanks!

Sure will work. Just about every older lens will work. K and M lenses will need to use stop down metering and M42 mounts would require an aditional adapter.

so do i also need to buy an adaptor for the SMC Pentax-A 1:2 50mm lens before i can use it on my k10d? how much does it cost? sorry for the noob questions, thanks

Nope, adapters only for M42 screwmount lenses. K-mount lenses work fine.
