What is "reasonably priced"? Any of the constant f2.8 17-50 or 18-50 lenses are good. The Sigma 17-70 old or new is good and has a bit more reach. The Tamron 28-75 is good but is not wide enough for me as a single-lens option.

They all turn up from time to time in the marketplace.

The DA 35 f2.5 is one of the least expensive Pentax lenses now, and gives very nice results. I use it a lot more than the kit zoom.

You can always buy old manual lenses for cheap.
With the AF confirmation beep, manual focus is really easy to do. Get a wide-range of old prime lenses that costs less than $100, and get a tele zoom AF lens or something.

If you tend to shoot toward the longer end of the kit lens, take a look at the F 35-70 SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm F3.5-4.5 Reviews - F Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database and F 35-105 SMC Pentax-F 35-105mm F4-5.6 Reviews - F Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database. Both are very inexpensive with stellar results. They have a very handy macro feature (you twist the lens at the long setting) that can be very useful at times.

A fast 50 like an A 50 1.7 can be had fairly cheaply and can get outstanding results in most light (if you like the FL)
