Pentax camera scripting

I think an interesting feature Pentax could add could be adding the ability to write scripts for their cameras.
For instance, you could download an intervalometer script, put it on to your memory card and bam! you have a intervalometer mode in your camera. It would probably be pretty easy for them to do, at least not any harder than adding an HDR mode. They could probably just modify a scripting interpreter like python or lua.

I might be missing something but I couldn't find anything about the scripting mode other than just how to enable it.
It would be great if Pentax would release more information about it, or even expand upon it to make it more
suitable for making add-ons instead of just debugging. The only other cameras that can do that are canon
point and shoots hacked with CHDK, it would definitely be a first for a manufacturer to have something like that.

I believe Debug mode is not supported by Pentax as a user mode. It seems unlikely that they would publish instructions for a non-user mode.
