K10D base crack, nooo!

I picked up my camera today and when changing the battery saw a small chunk missing from the base plate near the battery opening.

I didn't drop my camera so I have no idea how this happened.

I checked and saw several other people had similar things happen. What should I do now? Is there anyplace I can get a replacement base plate? And is this something I could easily fix myself?

Depends on where you are, your regional Pentax distributor might be able to supply you the spare part w/o sending in the camera.

I got a part from pro camera repair (hot shoe) and they have the base for the k10d for $13.30 PENTAX K10D BOTTOM COVER PIECE

I wish I found them when I had my k10d, I had a little crack too.

I stopped by a local pentax repair shop. It cost 30$ but was done on the spot. I have to say I was pleased that they had the part in stock. My K10D is back in tiptop shape
