Sensor heat transfer system for IR photos?

Is adding on a $125 sensor heat transfer system for a IR dslr worthwhile?

What exactly will it do?

I suspect that any benefit from this system would be confined to extremely long exposures. Probably cameras specifically converted to astrophotography.

The cooler the sensor is, the better the IQ.
Thats why really expensive/professional cameras are cooled down very much.
If you can archive a noticable better IQ with a 125$ cooling device is something i doubt

Are you talking about the Spencer's service or the peltier device that was offered for a while from a Korean firm?
I got the Spencer's conversion on my K10D. It makes a difference for the astrophotos. The sensor temp stabilizes at a lower temperature than a non-converted one.
