red flashing in lcd screen

I have a red flashing light in the viewing screen when I view a picture I have taken on my K10D, what is it dong?? or telling me?

It's telling you that those parts of the photo are overexposed. Try setting the EV to -1 when that happens, or bracket.

If you find the flashing red areas annoying, you can turn them off. I don't have my K10D or the manual handy, but there is a menu option to enable/disable this feature.

Aye, it's called "Show (or maybe it's Overlay) Bright/Dark Area" in the menu.

I have them on permanently in my K10D. There is also a yellow flashing in the underexposed parts. If I see huge areas flashing, I know I've got exposure troubles, but little specks here and there are normal. Specular highlights such as the sun reflecting on a chrome bumper can be ignored, but if the whole windshield is flashing, I need to rework the exposure.
