K10D control non-pentax flash

I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not the K10D wireless flash mode will control other flashes that work similarly, like the Nikon SB800?

No, it must be a Pentax dedicated flash (P-TTL), either made by Pentax or 3rd party like Metz or Sigma. Flash from Canon, Nikon, Olympus or Sony would not work as the flash protocols are different. They would only function as non-dedicated manual or auto flash.

I have a sigma EF-500 dg super with my K10 and I was never able to use it wireless. Even on the Sigma website, they say it does not work wireless without a
second sigma flash to act as the master. If somebody finds a way to use it wireless with the pop-up flash, I would be glad to hear about it.

Your Sigma flash need a chip upgrade in order to do that.

Chip or firmware, depending on serial number. See thread below, after 5 mins @ Sigma service I got it to work quite well..
