Are you leaving the memory card door open when you switch on?

Is the debug software in the root of the memory card?

I've asked for help on this subject before:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/general-technical-troubleshooting/130514-...cs-please.html

I'm running Firmware version 1.01 in my K-x,
perhaps there's an issue with newer versions.
I've read somewhere that it might not work with v.1.03.

My memory card door is closed while I access the mode.

There are pictures on how to do it on this site. http://ricehigh.blogspot.com/2010/01/k-x-debug-mode-tutorial-af-adjustment.html
Where it says " download it here" just right click on those words and choose "save Link as" , and choose a place to save the file to. The file is already named "Modset.492" It is pretty easy I haven't used it but I have installed it and gone through the steps to make sure it is there. Below is an image of the SD card on the Computer showing where the "MODSET.492 file must be placed. After that reinstall the SD card into your K-x Hold down the +/- Button next to the On/Off switch, Turn the On/Off switch while holding the Button down and you will see the screen as shown on Rice's site : RiceHigh's Pentax Blog: K-x Debug Mode Tutorial - AF Adjustment

Hope this makes it clear.

Mark

Figured it out............there was a hidden .txt file extension that had to be got rid of to work!!!!

My Pentax-A 50 f1.4 is now very much usable and sharp at it's lowest f-stop!!!!! This works for manual focus lenses using the focus confirmation light/beep!!!!!

It took a +160 adjustment to bring things back in-line...........tested on all lenses, and every single one is more accurate, whether it's my manual focus using confirmation beep/catch-in-focus, or my auto focus lenses!!!!!!

My K-x initialy required a big adjustment too, around +130.
But after a year or so in use, the recorded images started to be tilted 1-2 degrees
so I suspected a loose sensor mounting / SR mechanism / ?? problem.

Once back from warranty repair by Pentax Canada,
it required much less to fine tune the front/back focus,
around +30 or so.

Check if your horizon isn't level too,
set the camera on a level table, notice if playback image
isn't level with the one taken thru the viewfinder.
