K100D firmware update - now won't power up

I just updated my K100D to the latest 1.02 firmware - appeared to load just fine. Posted complete - turned off - took card out - powered on - nothing. no power to the camera at all. Pulled batteries - newer new batteries - put card back in - turned on - put newer SDHC card in - Just won't turn back on. Besides throwing out the window - any suggestions. Just bought the camera today! Wife is going to kill me! Help!

What kind of batteries? Try a new set of AA Lithiums.

Standard duracell alcalines - just put them in before the firmware update. I've cleaned the terminals with alcohol with no success.

That's probably the issue. DSLRs suck the power from alkalines quickly. Rechargeable NiMh or lithiums are the only kind of battery you should use in a DSLR. I really would try a new set of lithiums or fully charged eneloop, Kodak, or Energizer NiMh rechargeables. I wish you luck.

Energizer Lithium or Sanyo Eneloop's. All I use in my K200D are Eneloop's do a search on the forum using "aa batteries". You'll find a lot of threads on AA batteries.

Eneloops here too, but also have used Energizer nimh with good results. Never tried alkalines, altho they should work, I suppose. I don't think I'd try updating firmware using them, though. Hope you get your K100 up & running again!
