K20D: Class 6 or class 10 card?

Hi,

Will my K20D take advantage of the speed difference between a Class 10 SD card and a Class 6 card?
From what I understand once you meet the camera's speed limit, a faster card will not be of any added benefit.

Thanks,

I think it might show image previews a fair bit faster, at least. I have kind of assorted speeds, though, and may be mistaken. (I think some 4s, 6es, and 10s, ) I don't do a lot of lean-on-the-shutter-fill-the-buffer-type shooting, myself.

It all depends what class 6 and class 10 cards are you talking about. Sandisk Extreme Class 6 will outperform, let's say, Apacer Class 10.

All Class 6 cards are not created equal. I have Class 6 SD cards from Adata and Kingston that are slower than a SanDisk Class 4. They slow the K20D down on every single shot. I have a Dane-Elec Class 6 that's blazingly fast in comparison, which I use in my K-x. I use a Panasonic Class 10 in my K20D. It's fast, but I don't know if a faster card would print faster.

I use all San Disk Extreme cards and have never actually noticed a difference between my class 6 & 10s even when shooting RAW in burst (for BiF).

It's because Sandisk Extremes, both Class 6 and Class 10 perform well above Class 10 requirements.

Absolutely. I have done tests on all my cards in my K20D shooting bursts of 15 RAW and there is a great difference between cards in the buffer clearing time, from about 22s to over 60s. Unfortunately there wasn't a huge correlation between class 6 or class 10 and speed- some of my older cards are clearly only class 6 because class 10 wasn't around at the time. In general the SanDisk Extreme and Transcend class 10's were the fastest.
