What is there to say about it? It was a limited edition of the K10D, which came with the grip, a special leather neck strap and gold lettering. It was aimed at the collector market, but was otherwise a bone-stock K10D.

I don't know anyone who has one, or what the current market value is. I suspect that those who have them are hanging on to them.

The camera I'd really like to own is the AP50. This was a special K10D with a very retro look. It was created in 2007, while the K10D was still in production, to commerate the 50th anniversary of the original Asahi Pentax 35mm SLR of 1957.

They replaced the top cover with a silver one that lacked the built-in flash. It had the traditional Pentax pointed pentaprism cover and, IMHO, looked really cool. Other than the silver trim and lack of flash, it, too, was a pretty standard K10D. Unfortunately, they only made one and never sold any.

Not much to say about it, just hadn't come across this one yet. I've seen the Asahi K10D and the red 645D before for sure.

Once I like a good design (k10/20D) I have no issues finding one that has collector status. If I could find a GP version of the K10D I'd likely buy it.

I had number 81. I sold it to a forum member quite cheaply as I recall. Wasn't much interest.
A friend of mine still have number 82....

There was one for sale in the London Camera Exchange in Bath a few months back. They also had a standard K10d and the difference in price was not that much (although I don't know if it was in good condition and still had the grip and strap). So they do turn up every now and then.

They seem to fetch a bit more in Japan, more if it's boxed with original strap unused. One for the collectors.
Saying that, they are hard to come by.

I saw one on Ebay just a week or two ago... I think it went for somewhere around $350 (with grip, box, strap, no lens).

I have the strap that came with it- got it from Keh for $5.99.

I think it is a very nice camera.

I hadn't seen the AP50 before. That's one I'd like to have, or the K-5 done that way...

I don't know how much more a K10D GP would be, compared to a standard K10D.

The problem is that it is basically a bog-standard K10D, with gold lettering and a nice leather strap. There really isn't much difference between it and a standard camera. Its not like the gold-plated LX that Pentax released. While that was also mechanically identical to the standard LX, the body was plated in real gold.

If I were in the market for one. I wouldn't pay much more than a comparable standard K10D. I would probably pass on one that wasn't complete, or was badly worn.

As with any camera, check the shutter actuation count. It is included in the exif information for every image.
