Day one with my new Pentax

Yesterday was day one with my new Pentax K100d Super and I loved it. My first lens is the SMC Pentax-A 50mm f1.7 lens and it was a lot sharper then I imagined. It was a quick and easy learning curve with the whole camera / lens setup.

I'm a Canon person but I've invested in so much that it's hard to use my gear on non paid gigs. I don't want it to get broken, dropped, stolen etc. With the Pentax it's worry free and I can bring it with me anywhere and everyday. No more missed photo ops.

Pics from day one:

Congrats, I just got the Super with both kit lens and love it. I could not decide on what focal length I wanted, so i just tried to cover as much as possible to start.

Great shots Symon and welcome to the world of PENTAX. Soon you might be infected with a deadly disease called LBA, although you have your C* gear, the LBA is just very tempting.

Cheers,

Rene

LBA= Lens Buying Addiction

My sister is bringing me another lens but I'm not an addict. I can stop anytime I want.

Looks like you're going to enjoy the camera, symon. By the way, a very attractive Betta fish. How long have you had him? I've had five over the years and succeeded in killing every single one. I finally decided that was more than enough.

Cool first shots. Enjoy the new camera and welcome to the world of Pentax. You'll be screwing lenses to that body in no time! Yes I said screwing. You can use 40 year old M42 screw mounts from all sorts of brands to feed the LBA fairly cheaply.

Do you have a wireless flash adapter of some type on top of your cam? I've been looking for a Pentax compatible one for studio stuff...

Ain't that the truth...

I will say this much, though--you know it's beginning to get out of control when you ignore your empty (or nearly empty) bank account and resort to whipping out the plastic everytime you want to indulge your LBA.

You know it's really out of control when you find your car being repoed and your house being foreclosed on, along with having maxed out plastic. At that point, you need a 12-step group.

I will reassure you, none of that has happened to me, but I do have a pretty active imagination.

Although I've said that my next lens purchase is going to be the 21, I may have to deviate from that, as I saw a Spotmatic w/ Super Tak 50/1.4 on Fleabay that I'm very interested in. The auction itself comes down tomorrow morning and there are no bids--the starting bid is $24.95. I don't necessarily need another body, but that would be a deal & a half on the lens. Of course, if I won it, then I could always run a test roll through the Spotmatic and see if I like it any better than the ZX-30 film body that I already have and I'll keep the one that I like better.

Keep your fingers crossed.

I bought 3 super takumars on ebay within a week 55mm/1.8, 50/1.4 and 28/3.5, average about $40 each, have them, and the adapter hasn't arrived yet.

Oh I also got the A 50/1.7 in the same week off ebay and its a really enjoyable lens to shoot with.

Enjoy your Pentax!
