That might be true of certain types of electronic devices, depending on their voltage load or power drain or whatever, but it isn't true of Pentax DSLR's, unless you never actually use them. Even "regular" rechargeables (ie, NiMH cells) will typically provide more shots (per charge) than "regular" disposables (ie, alkaline cells), by at least a factor of two usually. But that assumes you shoot enough that self-discharge doesn't get in the way. You can get 500 shots or so out of regular NiMH cells, but only if you do it within a couple of weeks. If it takes 6 months to take many shots, you won't your 500.
BTW, one reason many hadn't heard of Eneloops until recently is that they've only been on the market a few years.
