Ghosts hate Pentax?

In a recent episode of the SyFy show Fact or Faked, the team was doing an investigation of a haunting aboard the USS North Carolina.

Just as they are about to get started, a dslr that was set on a spill proof shelf goes crashing to the floor.

From the video it looks like it says istD on the strap. Here are a couple of screen grabs.

My question is - they use mostly Canon dslrs on the show - why only the Pentax got tossed?

What gives, people from the other side?

Those ghosts have decided that it's time for the team to upgrade to the K30

The *istD is known for having a somewhat more weak ir filter, maybe the ghosts wanted to keep from being revealed?

Ghost hate kit lenses. But they're dead, so what do they know?

Funny thing is, you would assume it fell off because of the motion of the ship, but the North Carolina really doesn't have any, the thing might as well be a pier for all that it moves though I can't speak for what happens during really crazy weather which I doubt was the case here.

And good riddance to bad kit lenses, no excuse for that slow a lens with that narrow a focal range.

Maybe the ghosts liked that camera/lens so much, that they wanted to kill it and thus bring it to their world.

Sounds about right. Those fake "real" ghost shows are a hoot.

I (and many others) have taken lots of excellent images with that "bad" kit lens. Go check out the work of user "SLRPhotography" (website here: SLR Photography, Glamour Photographer Sam Rambo) to see how crappy that kit lens is.

I have no doubt you can take excellent images with a kit lens, its not really the IQ that I'm questioning since I don't pixel peep that hard, but even my several fixed F4 aperture lenses are too slow for me in many situations, that kit lens would be as horrible to use as my cheap super (slow) zoom. I am happiest with my fixed F3.5 aperture A35-105 since it puts most of my shots right in the part of the F'ing range (official technical term there) that has the best IQ.
Its only about one stop or so and I'm just being fussy but thats what I always seem to get screwed by, then my shutter speed is one too low to handhold and out comes the tripod.

Are you saying they are stuck in the past?

Because the camera was a Spiritual*ist. Unfortunately, the strap lacked the necessary ectoplasmic construction.

Today's kit lens is tomorrow's coveted gem. Many of the lenses we think of as exceptional started their lives out being disparaged in a similar way. I have a couple of lenses that people make all sorts of negative comments about and actually they're pretty darned good when it comes to actually using them. I've only a couple of times come across a really bad lens actually and both of them were off brand no-name lenses, not actual Pentax lenses...

Ah - here's the thread I was looking for with specific examples of photos taken by the 18-55 kit lens: SMC Pentax-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL Reviews - DA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

I've often wondered how many ghost "orbs" would have been captured if the photographer had been using a SMC Pentax lens.
