Is K-3 a joke?

Your cake analogy was spot on... but I'd still find it funny even though I really do love cake.

In the K-3 joke, nobody had lost anything. The status quo remained. The joke was on par with those fake winning instant lottery tickets people give mixed in with real tickets in birthday cards.

You other examples were way off; the guy hit in the head likely would have lasting damage and the stillborn baby example would be making light of a tragedy. Neither leaves the status quo in place.

If, in your mind, the tragedy of Pentax not releasing a camera that didn't exist the day before anyway is on par with losing a wife and unborn child, it may be time to stop waiting around and grab a FF from another brand.
