Wheres the best buy on K10d

I am thinking of buying a K10D. Getting mixed signals from place on internet. Some tell me that the unit they sell is all chinese. chinese writing on it, and plastic lenses. (Broadway Photo) $544 before rebate body only. Are internet dealers shady?

Don't do Broadway!! Beach Camera has the body only for $609 - 100 rebate = 509. The kit lens is approx $85 or choose whatever lens you want. But that is the best deal I know for the body.

Alway, always, ALWAYS check resellerratings.com before buying from a new, unfamiliar source! Or ask here. Sounds like it's not too late in your case...

How much are we expecting the price to drop when the K20D is officially announced or released or whatever? Has the price drop already occurred? Will it occur in the time period following the announcement?

I have never really paid attention to price fluctuations because I always ended up buying stuff whenever I really needed it but the timing on this is convenient for me.

As far as I can see, prices have actually increased a bit, because demand is still strong, and they are increasingly hard to find. My local Pentax dealer told me that it is unlikely it will drop below the price of the new K200D; but that it will surely go down.

I believe the price drop has already occurred, and is now rising. Production has (apparently) ceased on the K10D and others. Until the new models saturate the market, the few remaining "old" models may see their price increase. It's already happened at a few stores. It's even possible that the "new" models may not live up to the hype, and the "old" models could conceivably command more than when they were new (sounds odd, but it happened to the Canon T90 when it was discontinued). I don't see this scenario happening, however.

I paid $650 (after rebate) for the K10D kit in November when I could not find a K100D Super to purchase at any price. Now many places do not have either one to sell. The places that do have them may essentially charge you for the privilege! "Whatever the market will bear..."

It does, however, confirm the belief of many people that Pentax cameras were/are undervalued (read: most bang for the buck).

I bought my K10D from Beach Camera - got it last week for $609 -$100 rebate. Camera is great.

I just looked on beach camera again, and am seeing it for the same price (body only)...

I just went to the site and downloaded the rebate. According to the one they refer you to the rebate is only for the 10D kit and doesn't have the 10D body only?

Am I missing something?

Thanks for any info you give me.

You can actually buy it throgh shop.com at beach. When you check out use the win25 code and get an extra $25 off instant bringing the K10D body to a total of $484 after rebate. As far as the MIR goes if you do buy the kit you simply use the upc off the box of the camera. When you buy the "kit" 2 boxes come with it, one for lens and the other for camera. Rebate will work, even states it in the rebate instructions. Good luck! By the way I saw a kit lens on the marketplace for 55 bucks.
