K200D v K20D jpeg sizes?

The Official specs for the K200D for a 1GB card, using 6mp pictures says you can fit 335 images on the card (about teh same as my Ds). The K20D can fit only 176 6mp pictures! Similarly for the 10mp images, K20 can only fit half as many. Does this mean thaty jpegs from the K20D are only half as compressed, so "better" quality as they are twice the file size?

I don't think it's so much any difference in the compression as just the difference between the amount of data collected from a 10mp sensor vs. a 14.6mp sensor.

Is this a serious question or a wind up?

I downloaded one of the K20 Sample images < in jpeg > and it is 8.1 mb. Resolution is 4672 x 3104. So larger cards would come in handy with the K20D

There seems to be a new 'image quality' setting for the K20D
**** Premium
*** Best
** Better
* Good

K200D tops out at the familiar '*** Best' setting.

Both figures quoted by the OP were for 6mp images.

There is a new, better than 'Best', quality level on the K20D called 'Premium'

Ah - well spotted GFamily, thank you - the "premium ****" setting. Which just means less compression, right?

But even the new *** modes don't fit so many on so they must have bigger file sizes as well.
