Why no AF assist light with manual lenses?

PS : A better title would have been "MF assist light?", right? hahah
Hey guys
Don't you guys think it would be nice to use AF assist light with manual lenses?
Not having the possibility kind of kills the whole point of having fast manual primes...yeah, you get a really nice deblur for portraits, etc, but you can't really use them in low light!
I would like to see it on the next DSLR

In lowlight i use liveview for manual focus, works great for me so far.
Also i won't want to be on the other end of the light, it's really bright...

The ist ds has a green light and optional beep when switched to MF . It is accurate too., I can't better it even with the Magnifier M .
Don't the later Pentax dslr have this feature?
My Oly M43 does not have it with legacy lenses, pity.

You mean trap focus?
That might work.

I use catch in focus, but its useless in really low light (when i would really need it), because it doesn't activate the AF assist light
Regarding it being really bright, i know it is, but every compact camera has it, so people are kind of "used to it"...we should be able to at least enable it...
